Mother

You were never there for me,

No matter the situation
Is this what you call a family?

I can't even name a memory

Where I felt anything but separation
You were never there for me.

Though this wasn’t surprising to see,

You missed my graduation.
Is this what you call a family?

You’re the best in one degree,

Always number one at desertion
You were never there for me.

I’ve already heard every apology

Many lacking any real devotion.
Is this what you call a family?

This is not how a mother should be

Which is why I’ve asked the question
You were never there for me,
Are you really my family?
