Xi Chapter
The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity
1611 Hampton Street
Columbia, SC 29201

22 January 2017

Mr. (Brother in Review)

On behalf of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity I want to list to you your rights of due process. If you have any
questions please ask them when you come into the meeting room and I will be sure to answer your questions fully.

Rights of Due Process

1. Sergeant-At-Arms selects the judicial board members and chooses a time for a hearing, notifying the
accused member of the charges and the hearing at least 24 hours in advance.
2. The petitioning member may describe his case in person at the judicial hearing. Then, the accused
member has the right to defend himself. The judicial board has the opportunity to question both parties.
3. The judicial board has a closed discussion and makes a decision.
4. Any member of the chapter has the right to appeal a decision of the Judicial Board to the Executive
Council; furthermore, he may appeal a decision of the Executive Council to the chapter as a whole.
5. All appeals must be made within 48 hours of the most recent action dealing with the incident, and a written
description of the original incident, a description of subsequent action and an explanation of the appellant’s
argument must accompany every appeal.
6. Judicial decisions may generally be overturned by an executive decision, and executive decisions may be
overruled by two-thirds vote of the chapter.

In the bonds,
