Communications Plan for Times Agency
Goal:
To raise awareness of Times Agency among advertisers, academicians, the legal community, entertainment industry, librarians,
reproduction service companies and communications professionals, To influence these audiences to refer to the Times Agency on all
rights and permissions issues.
Key Issues:
Unauthorized reproduction of Times journalism by individuals and organizations negatively affects the Company's brand and revenues.
Messages:
Reproduction of any Times journalism must be authorized by Times Agency (contact 212-556-1988, www.nytimesagency.com) and in-
house attorneys.
Strategy:
Identify opportunities where the Times Agency can introduce itself to reproducers of Times journalism and educate them on proper usage
practices.
1, Identify speaking opportunities for Times Agency executives at industry events, professional association meetings, panel
discussions, public forums, etc. (e.g. Legal community, academic conferences, PR association events, advertising industry events).
2. Explore media opportunities that will increase visibility within the media community and position the Times Agency as an
authority on copyrights and permissions issues.
3. Produce bylined articles on rights and permissions issues for trade media,
