Rote Teaching Lesson Plan ATM I

Objective
★ Teach my peers how to sing the song “Siyahamba” by rote

Materials (What is needed?)

★ Must know how to pronounce the Zulu words
★ Origin of the song and background information on it

Sequencing
★ Introduce the song to the class by telling them the title
★ Introduce the the background and origin on the song
★ Sing the song for them
★ Teach them the lyrics by saying a word or phrase in order and having them
repeat after me
★ Repeat teaching them the lyrics but this time, with the melody
★ If there are any sore spots, go back and reteach it
★ Put it all together
★ Sing it again and I will add in the second part without telling them

★ I will sing the second part and have them listen to me

★ Have them sing last part of the second part. (more difficult part)
★ Have them sing the whole part.
★ Have half of the class sing the second part and the other class sing the first
★ Tell them the translation by singing the song with the translation
★ Explain the translation
★ Have the class sing the English translation
★ Have the class sing the whole song with the Zulu words and the English
translation
