KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds of residents were evacuated from the Platinum Apartment
in Klang Valley as firefighters responded to a fire on the fifth floor.
The fire was believed to have started from 10:35 p.m. last night. As the fire was
ragtng, four fire engines were sent out from the nearest fire station and reached within

Though the fire had receded after 30 minutes, the scene was still active as crews

Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

Human are the most creative and ingenious creatures of all. Over the past centuries,
human have come up with various inventions that improves the living conditions
drastically. We can now live in a comfort world with all sorts of technology which makes
our life easier. Among the inventions that lead to the greatest changes in our world are
aeroplanes and light bulbs.
In the olden days, people travelled by ships or trains from place to place. It often
took them ages to reach. Howeveq the Wright brothers successfully made an impact on
the aviation history. They made the first successful fly in 1903 even though it lasted only
for 12 seconds. They were first inspired by a helicopter toy given by their father. From
that day onwards, they grew interest in flying and spent most of their time in studying how
birds flew and the shape of their wings.
The invention of a functional light bulb by Thomas Edison had also played an
important role in our daily lives. Before the invention, human had to rest at night as
visibility was low. With the invention, it allowed human to be active at night. In 1879,
he created a successful incandescent light bulb. Before his success, he and his assistants
had tried 3 000 experiments to perfect the design. He never gave up easily and often saw
failures as great chances for him to learn. By the end of 1880, he produced a bulb that
lasted for 1 500 hours.
