POETRY RECITATION

What Nature Had Taught Us

Assalamualaikum and a very good day, to our honourable judges, teachers and my
fellow friends. I am Harraz and I am Hidayah.
We are going to present a poem entitled, “What Nature Had Taught Us”.

Imagine this…
Look around, and tell me, tell me exactly what you see
Because today the sun shines bright and the sky’s as blue as the sea
Fascinating isn’t it? Every time there’s a thunderstorm there’ll always be shine and
rainbow later on,
Beautiful isn’t it? How nature blooms into something worth living in
Weird isn’t it? How we merrily row, row, row your boat gently down the stream,
merrily merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream.

Now imagine,
You are a tree with legs rooted to the ground
Even when it is freezing or with the heat rained down
Branch popping out of your skin, one by one; ugly and dreadful
Scratching your skin, prickling and tingling; it’s so stressful

Yet you smile when a girl ambles towards you and lies down
With her back against you, she hums a whistle (whistle)
So you smile and you stretch your arms even further, so your shadow widens
The girl closes her eyes, and enjoys the breeze in silence

Now imagine,
You are a cloud holding on to millions of tiny droplets,
A grumble and it suddenly feels heavier in the pocket,
It’s time to open wide and drop down the bucket,
Of rain and shine, that nothing can stop us,

“Here we go again”, you heard them shout,

At the speed of 9.8 per second, you follow the thunder sound
Falling down, you embrace yourself to hit the ground,
You are pretty sure the pain will come around

Now imagine,
You are a flower, the prettiest of all in this one huge vase,
Worshipped not just for your smell but also for your face,
There’s no way to run, but you are always being chased,
It might be hard but know that this is just a phase.

You will wilt and you will be plucked,

Thrown into the bin, took away by the truck,
Nothing lasts, nothing remains; this life we have, mostly it’s just luck,
Like it or not, you need to brace yourself and buckle up.

Breathe in breathe out,

Maybe we are the tree, life is hard but never forget to smile,
Maybe we are just a tiny droplet, tiny but always the bravest.
When life gets hard, just enjoy the fall
Maybe this time wear a sky goggles, tighten up your parachute belt
Make a triple flip back, keep your smile wide and say, “Bring it on!”
