During my internship year, I had the opportunity of being a member of
Endeavor Elementary School’s community action team. Our school-wide project for the fall semester was a fundraiser for a school in Houston, Texas that was severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey.
As an intern in my fourth-grade general education setting, my students
became pen pals with students in the Region III Transition Program in Grandville, MI. For approximately six weeks, both groups of students shared letters back and forth discussing different topics. At the end of our six-week period of letter exchanging, both groups of students had the opportunity to meet and talk with one another.
