Cooking Safety: Stove & Open Flame

Cooking on a stove or open flame presents fire and burn hazards. Controls include never walking away from an exposed fire, not leaving oil or alcohol unattended on a high flame, reporting any gas smells, using proper equipment, not overfilling pans, and turning off the stove when finished cooking. Handles of cooking utensils should be turned away from the edge of the stove and not placed too close to a heat source.
