Newsbit Follow-Up

A Cut On The Road's Shoulder Could Have Caused Mishap

16-Sept-2010 Thursday
The site of the tragedy Wednesday night that left a middle-aged man dead on the spot
and several others rushed to nearby hospitals, when an ISUZU garbage dump truck with
plate number RHZ656 swept away roadside peripherals at the Quezon Memorial Circle,
leads further clues on what might have caused the accident.
A cut on the elliptical road's inner shoulders the size of a hollow-block is visible at the
foot where the runaway vehicle started toppling items on it's way including a traffic billboard
announcement that reads "NO SWITCHING OF LANES EXCEPT WHEN EXITING
THE ELLIPTICAL ROAD". The traffic billboard sign was buried on the heap of the mess
earlier.
The over-speeded truck could have had hit the cut, derailing it ,and setting it
uncontrollable by the driver.

Private Garbage Truck Tragedy

15-September-2010 Wednesday
It was a tragedy Wednesday night at the Quezon City Memorial Circle elliptical road
when a private garbage dump truck bearing the plate number RHZ656 raked a medium
sized young tree, a round concrete plant holder, and an electrical lamp post
before finally falling on its side.
A middle aged man died on the spot while several others were rushed to nearby hospitals.
It was about 10:00 in the evening when the accident happened opposite the
Lung Center of the Philippines'
east gate and Pearlie's Restaurant immediately before the exit to East Avenue.
Two ambulances were
the first to arrived on the scene followed by security people and local media
personnels from
GMA7, ABS-CBN and TV5.
The dump truck was heading towards the East Avenue exit at an impossible speed from
PhilCOA. It's a total-wreck as it lost a wheel, windshields totally battered and detached,
and the truck's body was almost torn from the driver's vestibule. Witnesses observed the recently
installed perimeter lamp posts with underground wiring went to blip for a second after hearing
a loud bang on that side of the circle. The tree was detached from the roots, the concrete plant
holder was displaced at about 5 meters, and the lamp post was toppled and
detached from it's concrete base.
The area has been receiving plenty of quantum reports lately and considered as high in
accident risks.

Erratum: The actual traffic billboard reminder encription is "STAY ON YOUR LANE
EXCEPT WHEN EXITING ELLIPTICAL ROAD". All apologies.
