This source is relevant to my inquiry because one of my areas of interest is knowing the

health effects that there are on a person because of being a firefighter. This study

provided me with information on the high risk a firefighter has of developing cancer

compared to the general population. It also provided me with some of the reasons why

they have such high risk of developing certain cancers. This source was very helpful with

my inquiry as it led me to find another helpful study that I will discuss later.

I am very confident that this source is credible. The study was conducted by the National

Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Cancer Institute, and

the University of California at Davis Department (UCDavis) of Public Health Sciences

and it was published by the CDC. NIOSH is a federal agency that conducts research on

injury and illness that is occupational related in order to try and prevent it. The national

cancer institute is a federal agency that conducts cancer research in order to provide

information on how to achieve longevity. UCDavis department of Public Health Sciences

is a Medical school that is big on research, teaching and service. They specialize in areas

that relate to prevention of diseases and the general health of our population. The CDC is

a federal agency that is committed to preventing and controlling the spread of diseases

throughout our population. All of these organizations are qualified to write on the subject

because they all have backgrounds concerning health or cancer research.
