A beautiful mind

The critically-acclaimed drama ‘A beautiful mind’,

directed by Ron Howard, is loosely based on the true
story of the mathematics genius John Forbes Nash. Set in
the mid-twenty-century Boston, the movie takes an up-
close look into themes such as love and power to make
dreams become reality.

‘A beautiful mind’ starrs Russell Crowe

magnificently performing the role of John Nash, who is
portrayed at the start as a mysterious, socially-awkward
and slightly odd man. The story begins at the renowned
Princeton University, where the main character stands
out due to his penchant for study. As time elapses, the
plot switches attention to his love for a brilliant student
called Alicia, played by Jennifer Connelly, whom he
eventually marries to. Not long after this, a staggering
discovery regarding John’s sanity proves their happiness
is inauspicious. Afterwards, the story unfolds a
compelling world fraught with roller-coaster experiences,
which reaches the climax when John becomes a danger
to his family because he cannot distinguish reality form
imagination.

This thought-provoking movie is scattered along

with both touching and witty moments. Owing to the
powerful and convincing acting, as well as the gripping
and suspense-filled plot, which never fails to surprise, it
successfully retains the audience’s interest throughout
the entire 130 minutes. Moreover, because the viewers
see the life through the protagonist’s eyes, they fully
understand the emotional drives that fueled John; they
feel the tension while he was working out solutions and
catch a glimpse of the courage and support that carried
him through the ordeal. In addition to this, the wonderful
choice of haunting music accompanying haunting
images and excellent setting are hints of the director’s
painstaking care for details.

On the whole, it is a well worth seeing movie, since

the story comes down to love and courage, two concepts
which should be more emphasized in today’s society. I
would open-heartedly recommend it to anyone who is
fond of inspiring movies with a happy ending.
