I have had the pleasure of being Leanne's master teacher in her student observation and student teacher assignment for the 2017-2018 school year. From the first day Leanne started her observation semester (followed by her student teaching ‘semeste'), she assumed complete control of her assignment: assisting, mentoring and teaching Despite being a chemistry major and electing to have her student teacher assignment in chemistry with me, early on in her observation period, Leanne determined her passion for working with my two 7 (grade classes. She requested that her focus be altered and UCI's Cal Teach program and | agreed. She has since developed into a seasoned middle school teacher by learning the art of teaching and how to apply the art of teaching. Leanne's ability to interact with all students is truly impressive as is her desire to continually increase her own teaching skils. With the implementation this year of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) by California and Costa Mesa High/Middle School, Newport-Mesa science teachers have been pressed to teach new Curriculum as we build it. Leanne has immersed herself into this endeavor, imbedding herseif in district and site writing and teaching teams thus becoming a valuable resource to seasoned teachers because of her familianty with NGSS. Leanne is extremely dligent in her use of the various technologies | use in class. She was always ‘open to them and is very comfortable with them. Much of the new curriculum that NMUSD has been developing involves internet resources and Leanne is extremely comfortable applying this area in her lesson plans. She has a great knowledge of her content area (chemistry) which allows her to cross. reference much of the new curriculum for very dynamic, varied and coordinated lessons. Leanne is always conscious of meeting the leaming styles of all her students and it was evident daily in her lessons. Her use of technologies allows her to assign different level tasks while maintaining the end object. I highly recommend Leanne for any teaching assignment. In all of my years of teaching and numerous student teachers, Leanne stands out as the best She isa true professional and | am confident that she will continue to perform in an outstanding manner.
