March 5, 2017 To Whom It May Concer, ‘As an adjunct professor in the UC Irvine, CalTeach single subject credentialing program and a practicing science teacher at a local public high schoo! I am writing this letter of recommendation for Leanne Lupone. I have known Leanne for two years. I first met her while she was a junior taking the Complex Pedagogical Design course. Leanne stood out among her peers for her ability to lesson plan and design ways that students could understand deep science ‘content using the Next Generation Science Standards, This current school year, I have Leanne in the Literacy for Math and Science Teachers course. Again, it has emerged that Leanne’s strength is her ability to design course work that is relatable to students. Currently Leanne is completing her student teaching in the Newport Mesa Unified School District. Leanne has demonstrated a high level of professional competence in each of the six California Standards for the Teaching Profession. I have witnessed her using a variety of teaching strategies creatively and effectively. Her strong content knowledge and her ability to plan logically sequenced lessons that are engaging and interesting take full advantage of student learning. She gets along well with her classroom peers and collaborates well with others making her an ideal candidate to help in-service science teachers with the transition into NGSS. Leanne has an immense background of experience for a student teacher. She has taken advantage of multiple opportunities to teach over her summers and in multiple school settings. Her positive attitude, good nature and calm demeanor enable her to build a classroom climate that fosters learning. Her ability to collaborate effectively with her peers and colleagues make her an ideal candidate.
