Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words
halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as
two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares
creates smaller shares.

Using the foldables, I will have students demonstrate halves and quarters of various shapes.
I will get a consensus of their understanding based on the foldables.
I will also guide them through their lesson based on the problems provided in their workbooks.
Concrete understandings of the lesson will be shown in their work.
I have a new student who does not speak English. I will haveher sit with a bilingual student so that they
can help me translate the lesson and help the ELL student have a better grasp on the lesson.
