for Access Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center

Intended Outcome for students:
My intended outcome for this activity is to allow students to be able to connect with the habitats through a real life
exploration. Students will be able to observe the organisms within their natural habitat in a safe and fun way.
Students can use this knowledge in the classroom by connecting to that previous experience during discussions.
Related Standards

animals, and habitats (mountains, piedmont, marsh/swamp, coast, Atlantic Ocean) found within geographic

3SC.C.4.a: ask questions to differentiate between plants, animals, and habitats found within Georgia's geographic
regions
3SC.C.4.b: ask questions to identify features of plants that allow them to live and thrive in different habitats of
Georgia
3SC.C.4.c: construct an explanation using evidence of how external features and adaptations (camouflage, use of
hibernation, protection, migration, mimicry) of animals allow them to survive in their habitat
3SC.C.4.d: use evidence to construct an explanation of why some organisms can thrive in one habitat and not in
another
3SC.C.4.e: construct an explanation to communicate what will happen to an organism if a habitat is manipulated
or changed (e.g. destruction of forests, advancement of technology, effects of migration)

Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center: Strategies and

Possible Roadblocks
What specific strategies will you use to bring this resource to your students?

To bring this resource to my students, I will need to gain permission from the principal and parents, and secure
a school bus or other mode of transportation to and from the facility.
Are there possible roadblocks or considerations that are evident already?

A roadblock to this activity would be securing the funds for bus transportation to and from the facility.

Possible solutions:

We could host a fundraiser or ask for donations from parents to gather the needed transportation funds.
