1 introduction
1.1 PLM - Product Lifecycle Management
PLM refers to a strategic approach with the aim of the entire product life
cycle to unterstützen1 universal compatibility gig (from conception to
disposal). here is focused on the development, administration,
communication and use of information for Produktdefini- tion in a
company.
In implementing this strategy, several IT systems are involved, both
specialized tasks support (eg. As CAD, CAM, simulation, DMU) as well as
general administrative tasks meet (eg. As ERP systems, EDM / PDM
systems abbreviated as Teamcenter Ex- press in another TCX). The
following figure illustrates simplifies the interaction potential of various
systems throughout the product development process.

1.2 EDM / PDM systems


EDM (Engineering Data Management) and PDM (Product Data
Management) systems are now used interchangeably and are mainly used
to manage product data. The EDM / PDM systems are taking organizations
with increasingly extensive functions for mapping of sub-processes and
facilities.
