Kickstand
Open a new part with model units set to
millimeters.

Go to: File > New > Part

Select the three planes in the feature tree


and make them visible by clicking on the
glasses.

Change the name of the Right Plane

Double click on the Right Plane in the feature tree.

Change the name into: MIDPLANE KICKSTAND

Select the Front Plane and create a sketch


by clicking on the 2D sketch icon

Draw an ellipse
Go to: Tools > Sketch Entities > Ellipse

Click on the origin. The origin must be the


middle of the ellipse. Enter the dimensions of
the ellipse as shown in the picture.

Close the sketch

Select the MIDPLANE You could change the shape


KICKSTAND and create of the spline by dragging at the
a new sketch tangency arrow. Design a
curve you like.
Select the ”Normal To”
option in the View
Orientation bar

Draw a spline as
shown in the picture.

Make the right side of the


spline tangent to a
horizontal construction
line.

Close the sketch

Create a new plane

Go to: Insert > Reference Geometry > Plane

Select the spline of Sketch2.

Click the Normal to Curve option.

The new plane appears in yellow.

Click OK

Select the new Plane1 and create a new


sketch

Select the ”Normal To” option in the


View Orientation bar

Draw an ellipse
Go to: Tools > Sketch Entities > Ellipse

Enter the dimensions of the ellipse as shown in the picture.


Select the endpoint of the spline of Sketch2 and
select the bottom point of the ellipse.

Add a coincident relation: Right click > Coincident

Close the sketch

Create a loft

Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Loft

Profiles : Select the green marked Sketch1 and Sketch3

Guide curves influence: To Next Guide

Guide Curves : Select the purple Sketch2

Click OK

Create a dome

Go to: Insert > Feature > Dome

Select the green top face of the loft as shown in the picture.

Change the Distance into 15 mm.

Select the “Elliptical dome” and the “Show preview” options.

Click OK

Create a dome at the other side of the loft as well

Select the green surface of the loft as shown in the picture.

Change the Distance into 5 mm.

Select the “Elliptical dome”


and the “Show preview” options.

Click OK

Create a new sketch on the MIDPLANE


KICKSTAND

Draw the rectangle as shown in the picture.

Create an extruded cut

Go to: Insert > Cut > Extrude

Direction 1 : Midplane

Change into: 40 mm

Click OK

Create a new sketch on the MIDPLANE KICKSTAND

Draw the sketch as shown in the picture.

Use the SolidWorksModel part as reference file


if the 2D sketch is unclear to you (Extrude2,
Sketch 5).

Create an extruded cut

Go to: Insert > Cut > Extrude

Direction 1 : Midplane

Change into: 90 mm

Click OK

Create a new sketch on the Top Plane

Draw the sketch as shown in the picture.

Create a extrude

Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude

Direction 1 : Midplane

Change into: 8 mm

Click OK

Create two fillets

Select the green edges as shown in the picture.

Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round > 2 mm

Click OK

Create a face fillet

Select the green surfaces as shown in the picture.

Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round > 0,5 mm

Click OK

Hide all planes except:

- MIDPLANE KICKSTAND

Save the file with the following name: Kickstand

Congratulations, you just finished the Kickstand!
