Mary's commitment, dedication and passion for student learning and engagement is beyond compare. She has worn a variety of educational leadership hats, created programs and built systems in educational organizations. Mary accomplishes projects collaboratively while building capacity with efficiency, enthusiasm and holding high expectations. Mary demonstrates high degrees of expertise as an instructional leader. She understands instructional design and assessment. She has spearheaded our work with standards based learning and developed a structural framework to provide consistent documentation across our district. Her work will be made visible this fall when the entire district will implement standards based learning. Another strength Mary possesses is her ability to evaluate programs. This was evident through the evaluation and restructuring of our Extended Learning Program. Of course, this was highly charged as tough decisions were made regarding future programming. Her strong use of research, deep understanding of talented and gifted programming, and use of data made this arduous redesign seamless. Our program is much stronger and aligned to evidence based practices. All stakeholders have a better understanding of our program goals and the vision for the program has come to life. Mary also directed our Teacher Leadership and Compensation Grant committee. Her ability to establish a diverse committee and accomplish a successful grant was stellar. As our work has unfolded, Mary has built capacity for our instructional coaches, provided clarity around roles and responsibilities and inspires others to lead. Mary's insight and knowledge of the technology infrastructure and how to integrate technology into the classroom is astounding. She consistently grounds herself in teaching and takes every opportunity to teach using technology. Mary has distinct ideas and reveals clear vision in her leadership role. She is willing to think outside the box and stretch our thinking. Her desire to learn, help others in their journey of learning and growing is exceptional.
