1. How does being in captivity affect an animals health?

2. My purpose for this topic is to advocate for animals. I have seen animals in the zoo as

well as SeaWorld. I have also seen animals in their natural habitat. It is sad to see how the

animal’s natural behavior is affected by being cooped up in an exhibit. I want to know

which parts of an animal’s health is affected by being held captive and what it does to

them as a whole. I hope this inquiry will help me raise awareness for the rights of

animals. My character strengths can be exhibited in this research. I have the capacity to

love and be loved. I definitely love animals and accept the love they give me in return. I

also have the gratitude strength. I am grateful for the animals that we have on Earth and

do not take them for granted. This is why this issue is so important to me.

3. A few summers ago, I went kayaking in a state park in West Palm Beach. The wildlife

was amazing. Seeing how calm everything was compared to industrialized areas made

me realize how negatively humans can impact nature. I am biased against SeaWorld.

Specifically, the orcas do not have enough room to live a good life. The animals in the

state park were wild and seemed healthier than those in zoos. In every direction I looked

there was a new species of animal I had never seen. The park ranger also informed me as
certain tides come in, manatees can be seen swimming in the channel. I was fascinated

that there was a possibility of seeing wild manatees since they are usually rare.
