Curriculum Framework:

Plan:

I would start this lesson by having students list various different aerobic and anaerobic
environments in order to ensure that they understand the distinction between the two. From there,
I would remind the students of the cycling of matter that we previously talked about and inform
them that today’s lesson would build on that. Then, I would show the video as it gives a very
good explanation of each process and how it varies with and without oxygen. After the video I
would engage the class in a short discussion regarding the major differences between the flow of
energy in each environment. Then I would split the class into two groups and one group would
be responsible for anaerobic respiration and the other for aerobic respiration. In their groups, the
students would be responsible for creating a scene that adequately depicted the cycling of matter
in their specific environment.
