Executive Summary
Keepers of the Wild

Lions, who was once

called “King of the Jungle” areis

now being called an endangered Species. These cats once roamed Africa, Asia, and

Europe but now are only found in two areas of the World. Keepers of the Wild, an

organization started 21 years ago for animal care, currently provides care for these

animals who are classified as endangered or are threatened under the Endangered

Species Act. Most of these animals have been neglected, abandoned and/or abused.

Keepers of the Wild so their program allows animalsthem for the rest of their life to

be well cared for. Keepers of the Wild They collaborates with private owners,

local, state and National Law Enforcement to get legislation passed to end the exotic

pet trade and the use of exotic animals traveling in circuses and exhibits. Their

progress is well known for itss efforts and contributions to various community

causes and national charities for the welfare of animals and its contributions to

various community causes and national charities. The purpose of this paper is to

educate people on the threats these animals are in and what we can do to helpkeep

How will the Solution Resolve the

of the lion. On average, a lion can live up to ranges between 10-14 years. Males

Keepers of the Wild

We humans, are the primary reason why animals are going extinct. For the

first time in years, humans have managed to create an environment where mass

extinction is imminent. Anthony Douglas Williams came up with a famous quote

saying;

“It’s not whether animals will survive, it’s whether man has the will to save

them”. – Anthony Douglas Williams

This new fence system as stated in last page could actually save lions. Yes,

Tthe human population is growing but thewe can always use of fences to keep one Formatted: Font color: Text 1

another from invading each other habitats could be a solution. After researchers Formatted: Font color: Text 1
Formatted: Font color: Text 1
surveyed 42 lion habitats in 11 countries, they determined that fencing could help

maintain 80 percent of the lion number in Africa.

Keepers of the Wild and other organizations focus on the protection of not

only lions but other animals also. Organizations are starting to protect these

endangered animals by creating laws that will keep them from being captured

and/or killed. Even though saving lions from being extinct can come with a cost

13
Terrence Suitt
March 2, 2018
and also can be more complicated than marking them as extinct, it is a small step

that we as humans can take that could lead to bigger steps to ensure animals of all

kinds exist in the near future. This is where rescuing animals and holding them in

zoos can play an important role in some conservation efforts. With animals being

held in zoos, there is the increase chance of reproducing.

Conclusion

In summary, providing care for the animals in the wild will lead to an

increase in population rather than a decrease. Educating individuals on what we

can do and funding these programs can push us in the direction we need in order to

care for them. If an animal you loved, like a dog, where to loste its population and

start to become extinct you would want to make changes in order for them and you

to be happy. We as humans never really had a chance to experience dinosaurs, but

those fascinating creatures could be a wonderful sight-seeing experience for some

people. 100-250 years from now we don’t want the same to happen to animals. If

that was the case, we could be the only life forms on the planet.

“Species are going extinct because of habitat loss and warming. I feel deeply

responsible and think about it every day.” – Peter Heller
