Upward Basketball Reflection

Walking into the gym made me realize how little I actually knew about officiating

basketball. I played basketball growing up, but for the most part I had no idea what I was doing. I

quickly learned where I needed to stand and it was essential to have an assertive voice. I had the

opportunity to referee the middle boys, the older girls and the older boys.

While none of the parents were rowdy, some of the coaches could be a little agitated with

some of the calls. Some of the coaches could get frustrated at their athletes when they were not

paying attention. Few of those situations occurred .

Opportunities like Upward Basketball are wonderful for the youth. It provides them ways

to practice their skills and learn the fundamental skills of basketball while having fun.
