Make sure you understand what you are asked to write (a letter, an article, a report, a speech…)
The free writing will be marked according to a detailed grid which includes:
Keeping to the topic; who is writing to whom, for what purpose, how relevant your ideas are.
Read the questions carefully before reading the text ,this will help you understand the topic of the text.
Refer to the paragraph mentioned in front of the question ,which will guide you to the correct answer.
To complete a paragraph summarizing the text , concentrate on the main ideas of the text and use words from the text.
When you are asked to paraphrase , rely on your own words to explain the idea .
When asked to pick up an approximate synonym, replace the word you found with the suggested meaning to be sure of it.
Concentrate on the structures of the sentences, this will help you choose the correct option . (parallelism ,comparison
,model ,……………..)
When asked to put the words in their right tense or form, remember that tense means present , past, future, conditional
whereas form can be related to adjective, adverb, noun…… or even passive versus active forms
Read the paragraph twice and thrice to revise your choices and to get helped with the mean idea of the paragraph.
Remember that using a certain adverb is related to the context of the paragraph and the idea you want to express:
contrast , addition ,cause/result…….)
