I am writing to express my interest in the Director, Academic and Career Advising position
within the Division of Student Development at Yavapai College. After reviewing the posting, I
feel my combination of education, experience, and knowledge is an excellent match. I am
pleased to submit this letter of application an am confident you’ll find my abilities and attributes
make me an ideal candidate for this position as well as an asset to the Student Development team
at YC.
Over the last ten years, I’ve had the good fortune to work directly with a diverse student
population building relationships based on academic and career success. This has allowed me to
assist students in finding strategies for success while learning the challenges and struggles many
of them face. I am strongly committed to the area of academic advising and have been
responsible for planning and developing innovative and exciting student programs under our new
Pathways Program. Additionally, I am an active member of the National Academic Advising
Association, College Reading Learning Association, and the American Association of University
Women. All groups that have continuously helped me grow as a leader within Student
Development.
My M.Ed. in Educational Leadership has prepared me for this exciting opportunity and I look
forward to doing all I can to become part of the Academic Advising Department’s continued
dedication to student success.
