Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Quizlet is an awesome site that helps students create and study original
work. It is great tool that helps students with all types of learning styles stay engaged. You can upload images
for visual learners, Change the language settings to assist ELL learners as well as provide written and sound
accessibility for them to learn the language. It includes voice over for students who are oral learners, and for
those who have vision or hearing impairments to be able to hear and see the written content.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
The first step I will conduct is introducing the students to quizlet and showing them how to set one up. I will
then introduce the topic and standards we will be covering within this assignment. I will display my pre-made
quizlet to the students as an example of expectations for them to create. I will then go over and review the
rubric with them. The students will be required to choose 2 historical figures. They will come up with their
own questions and answers of those figures based off of their research from the text book.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the SRT activity the students will each be able to choose historical figured in America within the
standard addressed. They will ask questions including who they are, what they have done, and any other
significant information they research on their figured. I will check in with each student on their process of
research and creating of their Quizlet activity. The students will use their text book to gather information as
well as school computers to work on creating their quizlet. This activity will last about 1 week. We will begin
the assignment on Monday. Where each student will pick their 2 figures, and begin their research. They will
have about 15 minutes of in class time every day to work on this. By Wednesday they will begin using the
computers and creating their quizlet. By Friday everyone will be finished with their quizlet and ready to
publish. Other students within the classroom will be able to access their quizlets on the classroom blog to
help them study and see what information and pictures other might have included that they have missed.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☐ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☒ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
1.) Who is Benjamin Franklin?
2.) Who is Thomas Jefferson
3.) Who is Meriwether Lewis?
4.) Who is William Clark?
5.) Who is Sacagawea?
6.) Who is Theodore Roosevelt?
7.) Who is George Washington carver
8.) Who is Ruby Bridges?
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Yes, because this is a studying activity, the work will need to be correct so that when other students in the
class access the quizlets they will not have misguided information.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activities have all been complete I will review them one last time. After review I will publish each
students quizlet onto the classroom blog for their parents to see their work. Other students will have access
to each other’s quizlets for them to study and compare notes.
How will the data be used?
Once everyone has finished their quizlet they will have access to other students quizlets on the classroom
blog. Here they will be able to study and see other student’s flashcards to compare and make notes. Once the

assessment has been given I will compare their test results with test results of the pass to see whether or not
these study tips have improved their knowledge and understanding.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I am trying to introduce students into better studying habits. Often by reading something and applying it to
your own understanding by creating flashcards, pictures, etc. they will gain a better understanding of the
content. I hope to learn how each student progresses and uses creativity to help them understand the subject
given.

Reflective Practice:
I hope that buy the students using pictures, audio, and written response they will gain a deeper
understanding over the content. By seeing other students work and comparing their results, my goal is for
them to draw deeper connections. This project is assigned as a unit of study. However, if I were to extend this
assignment into further lessons I would have the students work in groups. They will be able to choose the
subject and material they want to cover based off of the standards addressed. They will be able to present
their project using Quizlet in front of the class for an in-class assignment. This could also be extended into
introducing flipped-classroom. By having the students research and create flash cards prior to the lesson to
see what knowledge they have gained before coming into class.
