2.
Mark in
centre
line using
the
marking
wheel.
Using a steal
ruler, mark out
the holes.

Project the
lines
around the
piece.
Using the
Tri-square
Drill 8mm holes on the pillar drill,
Make sure to clamp piece at 90* to
drill bit
Like before
mark face
side/edge.
Measure
down 50mm
and in 50mm
on the of the
piece.

Now on the front of

the piece, using a
pencil and a ruler
measure in 25mm
from both ends.
Drop a line down
25mm bring this
across the both lines
using a marking
wheel.

Drill an 8mm hole

down 40mm at
both these points
on the pillar drill.
Make sure the
piece is clamped
at 90* to the drill.
Place the piece in the
vice, make sure waste
line is parallel with
ground line.
Turn the plane at a
slight angle to
produce a more slicing
action.
This will help reduce
pressure and break out
on the piece.

Cover the bottom of

part 2 in PVA glue,
and place in a vice.
Make sure that 3
sides are flush on the
on the 2 pieces.
Leave to set for a
day.
Mark face side face
edge on the piece,
Using the ruler measure in
90mm from the left
corner.
Measure up 80mm from
the bottom right corner.
Join the 2 points, this give
you the cutting line.

Place piece in the vice so

the cutting line is vertical.
Use the tennon saw to
cut to the waste side of
line.
Make sure to grip the
tennon saw with the pistol
grip. (teeth facing down)
Take 3 strokes back to
start the cut. Let the saw
do the work don’t force it

From the top right

corner measure out
45mm with the ruler.
Drop this point down
using your tri-square
on both sides.
Now measure down
50mm on this line to
find the centre of the
hole.
Clamp piece to the
table of the pillar
drill.
Drill through the
piece using a 40mm
hole saw bit.

Pillar Drill

Hole Saw bit.

Make sure to
check the your
piece is square
and cut to
correct
dimensions.
Using PVA glue, glue
the bottom on the
wall to the base of
the tractor. Make
sure that the walls
are square to the
base piece.

Using PVA glue, fix

the roof into make
sure to have the
roof flush, at the
back of the side
walls and along
the side walls.
Glue 8mm
dowel into the
holes drilled
previous. Allow
30mm each side
of the base to
glue on wheels.

Glue the
wheels onto
the 8mm
dowel
Glue
8mm
dowel
stubs.
Allow
10mm to
extrude
out from
either
side.

Mark face side and

edge, step in 10mm
from one side using
a ruler. Join back to
the bottom
Corner. Remove
waste with the
tennon saw.

Set the marking

gauge to 7.5mm.
Mark the piece to
locate centre of
the radius 15mm
filter. Draw in fillet
using a compass.
Remove the fillet, either with a
spoke shave or by vertically
pairing. Either method would
work fine.

Place the piece in the pillar drill

making sure it clamped firmly.
Drill an 8mm hole in the centre
of the fillet.
Glue the loader onto the dowel
stubs using PVA glue and leave to
set.
Label face side
edge like before.
From the top
measure in
50mm.
Join this point
back down to
the bottom
corner.
With the tri-
square bring the
line around to
the opposite
side.
Now join the
point back to
the bottom
corner also.
Make sure both
angles are
sloped in the
same direction.
Place the piece, in
the vice. Make sure
that the waste line is
horizontal.
With the hand plane
place with the grain.
Take small shavings,
cut the full length of
the piece without
stopping.
Stance should be
firm. Transfer the
weight from the
back leg to the front
leg as you plane.
Keep 2 hands on the
plane, apply
pressure on the front
knob. Push through
with the back
handle.
Finally glue the front bucket onto
the loader of the tractor. Allow
glue to set.
If wanted you can apply a
coloured finish to the tractor and
loader.
