Thyroid Cancer 
What Is it? 
Thyroid Cancer is a type of cancer that forms in the Thyroid muscle in a person’s throat. 
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped muscle in your throat. The cancer harmfully affects the 
thyroid’s ability to make hormones, and regulate heart rate, blood pressure, body 
temperature, and weight. 

Symptoms 
Several symptoms of thyroid cancer include: 
● Changes Voice / Hoarseness
● Swollen Lymph Nodes
● Difficulty Swallowing / Eating
● Lump Can Be Felt Through the Neck
● Difficult to Permanently Get Rid of the Cancer
○ Thyroid Cancer Constantly Returns
● Shortness of Breath

Causes 
Although the exact causes to this cancer are unknown, it has been linked to genetic 
mutations, such as a cell’s inability to die. It has also been linked to exposure to 
radiation, specific genetic syndromes, and being of the female sex.
