Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport (TESS 2a) + Middle

Level Instructional Strategies (AMLE Standard 4, Element b)

To the left of this text you can see an image.

That image is from an online site I use called
classcraft. The image itself demonstrates the
level of interaction that I have with my students.
Whenever my students have a homework
assignment coming up, I always ensure that I am
able to be contacted at any time. In this instance,
I’ve conversed with this student about an
upcoming assignment. They talk to me about the
process of turning it in and then the student
states later that he’s completed all of the quests.
During this portion of the conversation I make mention of his work ethic and praise him for his
abilities to complete his work. This level of comfort in communication is important and
necessary to establish a strong level of rapport between me and the student, and also makes it
easier to talk about classroom content.

If I were to relate this to an AMLE standard, I would have to say this this style of
interaction with students most closely aligns with the fourth AMLE standard, specifically
element 4b “Middle Level Instructional Strategies”. In this element of AMLE, it talks about the
use of technology in instructing students to complete their assignments as well as different
approaches to turning in their work. It also gives me the opportunity to talk with a student that
may be having difficulty in the classroom in an attempt to work something out.
