Dear Sally-Anne Browner,

The exciting and unusual nature of the role drew my attention to the ad for Steam Consultant with
Coder Factory Academy. The position seems like a fantastic avenue for which I can pursue my career
goals and seems to match my background, interests and skills.

The role combines quite a few interests of mine; namely, child work and tech. I enjoy working and
developing children, and have had a history of doing so in my paid and extra-curricular work history.
Having had to coach children in netball at St. Michael’s Grammar School and Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar
School with Melbourne Sports Institute, I have had to devise new and challenging training plans for
my students. Teaching swimming at the Carlton Baths, I have had to make sure my lessons were
constantly engaging and relevant. I wish to pursue work that capitalises on such backgrounds and
allows me to draw on my intellect. The teaching of STEM programs to school pupils sounds like such
a role that will allow me to grow thus.

I have strong skills in writing, and communication in general, both written and verbal. While being a
natural talent of mine, these traits have been honed by years of tertiary study at RMIT, where I have
nurtured those soft skills via means of assessments in the form of oral presentations, group tutorial
discussions, study assignments, and group projects towards peers and academic staff.

My involvement in sports and extra-curricular clubs, especially on campus, has developed my

interpersonal skills and made me an outstanding communicator. Having had to step up and assume
leadership as part of league tryouts in Ultimate Frisbee has given me confidence and the means to
display planning and organisational skills.

In my studies, I have also gained an understanding of coding programs, such as HTML5, CSS3, C#. and
.NET development. I am confident in coding simple to intermediate websites and applications in
them and delivering training packages in their use.

Further details as to my background may be found in my résumé attached. I would be most excited
to be given a chance at this role, and would be grateful if offered the chance to discuss this position
further in an interview.

Yours sincerely,

Jeremy Chan
