ABSTRACT
Concrete is one of the important materials of a building, which is
basically formed from two main parts namely cement paste and aggregate.
Cement paste consists of portland cement and water with or without additional
ingredients (admixture). While the aggregate consists of coarse aggregate (crushed
stone) and fine aggregate (sand).
In this study used a rough aggregate filler material that comes from the
dismantling of a brick wall. Dismantling red brick walls from a building is usually
less reusable, and is only used as a heap or material on a construction project. The
purpose of this research is expected to be more utilize the waste material as the
base material of concrete. Besides, the availability of broken stone as a base
material of concrete has been increasingly difficult, because the condition of the
broken stone source is already increasingly concerning. The composition of the
aggregate replacement variation using red brick discharge was 10%, 20%, and
30% from the weight of the crude aggregate obtained for the normal concrete
mixture. The test specimens used for the compressive strength test are cuboid
concrete, while for bending strength test are used beam-shaped concrete, and
cylindrical test object for concrete tensile strength test.
Replacement of rough aggregates using red brick wall dismantle resulted
in decreased strength in concrete. In concrete with 10% replacement of coarse
aggregates decreased by 18.28% for compressive strength, 5.33% for bending
strength, and 19.58% for tensile strength. While on the replacement of 20% rough
aggregate on concrete, the decrease of concrete compressive strength was 23,61%,
in bending strength test decreased 11,83% and 27,1% 51 in tensile strength test.
Replacement of 30% of coarse aggregates also decreased significantly, where
compressive strength decreased by 37.41%, bending strength decreased by
22.49%, and tensile strength decreased by 49.03%.
