Activity Title ______Learning the ABC’s_________________________________________

Utah Core Standard: Standard 4.1.18

Objective (s): physical education

Learning Outcomes: (What do you expect students to master as a result of your lesson?)

Create and perform a jump rope routine with either a short or long rope.

Instructional Procedures:
Step 1: Explain to them what the outcome/goal of the lesson is. I will tell them that they will
learn how to double dutch with a jump rope.
Step 2: I will show them how to spin the ropes by showing them the hand actions and having
them copy me.
step3: I will demonstrate when to jump into the ropes and not get caught in them. I will tell them
that they have to time it correctly and wait for an opening to jump in.
Step 4: I will pair them into groups of three and have them try it out. I will go around and help
them if they need it.

Materials: 2 Jump ropes per every 3 students

Family Connections: (take home activity) I will have them take home jump ropes and teach at
least two people how to double dutch. I will have them write about how it went.

Assessment Plan: (how do you plan to assess whether or not students mastered the skill/
concept?)
I will assess whether the students has mastered the skill by observing them and seeing whether or
not they are trying their hardest. There may be students who will have to take a lot more time to
get it down, so if I see them trying their hardest I will know that they are giving effort.
