Brief Description of Tech Tool:

This tool provides examples and solutions to different types of equations. It walks students through the
procedure of solving different types of equations. It also shows how to check your answer in more than
one way. This is a very useful tool for students to review material they have learned or to help them
understand certain topics better.

Technical & Cost considerations:

This game is free and only requires each player to have a device that connects to the internet.

Evaluation
1. Learning Activity Types
LA-Practice: students are practicing their ability to solve different types of equations.

2. What mathematics is being learned?

Standards:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSA.REI.A.1
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSA.REI.B.4

Proficiency Strands:
 Conceptual Understanding – Students are gaining a better understanding of solving different
equations and how to check their work.
 Procedural fluency – Students can check their answers to solving different types of equations
and also see the explanations of each step in the process.

3. How is the mathematics represented?

The mathematics is represented in different sections of equations. There is linear, radicals, absolute
values, quadratics, exponentials, logarithmic, and trig equations. Students can solve the problem and then
see the solution with explanations. It also provides extra practice problems in the solution page.

4. What role does technology play?

Advantages:
 Resource is free
 Good practice
 All types of equations
 Solutions given with explanations
Disadvantages:
 Not very engaging

Affordances of Technology:
 Representing Ideas and Thinking: Students are solving different types of equations and seeing
ways to check their work.

5. How does the technology fit or interact with the social context of learning?
Students can work individually on these problems or with a partner where they review and solve the
problems together. It is a great resource for students who need extra practice with certain types of
equations.
