Chasca, also known as (the virgin of the water)

Long ago, in the barra de Santiago lived a indigenous chief who was rich and evil, His name
was pachacutec and he had a daughter named Chasca. This man had arranged a marriage
between Chasca and a Princes of the zutuhil tribe.

one day, While Chasca was walking on the shore, she met a young fisher named Acayalt, soon
she fell in love with him, but Pachacutec didn’t approve this romance. However, every day she
met him early at morning at the same place where they had met.

A few weeks after, Pachacutec found out this and He wanted to end their relationship

one horrible day while Acayalt returned from fishing, a man who was sent by Pachacutec shot
an arrow straight to his heart. Chasca saw the murder and screamed with horror and decided
to join her lover in death, She tied a rock around her waist and threw herself into the water

The following night of a full moon, the spirit of chasca appeared for the first time in a white
canoa next to Acayalt, from this time, She has continued to appear in this way.

whenever the fishermen notice a full moon, they do not go out to fish because they wish to
respect and not disturb the virgin of the water and her love, who in return for that respect, bless
the fishermen with bountiful fish.
