1- Good morning teacher and classmates.

I’m going to talk about


the Inca Empire.

2- The Incas were one of the largest South American civilizations.


They built an empire in pre-Columbian America which was is
now Peru.

3- The Incas called their empire Tahuantinsuyu, the “Land of the


Four Corners”.

4- Their political organization was hierarchical. The leader was


the Sapa Inca or Great Inca. He was the representative of the
Gods on Earth and ran the empire, advised by a Council and
the “tucuyricuy”, who travelled the entire empire, thanks to
the path that Incas created.

5- Incas were polytheists. The emperor was considered a


demigod. There was a main god, called Viracocha. Others
important gods were Inti, Illapa and Pachamama.

6- Agriculture was the main economic activity. Incas adapt to


their surroundings and created cultivation terraces or
platforms in the foothills of the Andes. They grew corn, beans
and different types of potatoes.

7- Incas have a great Army. For them, war was important for
expanding their territory and culture. They spent the time
conquered new areas and imposed all their culture. This
included language and practice their religion.
8- Their culture and lifestyle is very interesting since they are
very different in comparison to the other cultures.

9- Incas were a very important civilizations for America and the


rest of the world because they were the origin of products
and many things we still use until today.
