1. Establish objectives of the analysis
Evaluate and compare two companies from the same industry and decide on an investment
strategy.
2. Study the industry in which the firm operates and relate industry climate to current and
projected economic developments.
Read not only the firms’ own analysis of the industry and its projections, but articles written by
external and non-related entities.
Read on the trend of other industries that may have a direct influence in the firms’ future.
3. Develop knowledge of the firm and the quality of management. Demonstrate this through both
financial and non-financial information.
4. Evaluate financial statements using financial analysis tools and techniques.
5. Summarize findings based on analysis and reach conclusions about both firms as they pertain to
the established objectives.
