Dear Advisory Board:

My general area of interest is the treatment of animals, specifically in animal testing. I know that
animals all over are being mistreated in different ways, and that something should be done to
better protect those animals. I chose this area because I love animals. Animals are important to
me because I have always had a connection with them. Something new I learned from my
research is that there are several better alternatives to animal testing that exist. Computer
modeling and micro-dosing are just a few of the possible substitutes that could make animal
testing obsolete. The deeper I go into the topic, the more I learn about animal testing.

My thesis statement will be: Animal testing of products should be banned because the test
results are deceptive, better alternatives exist and the practice results in unethical treatment of
animals. The focus of my paper is to display what makes test results from animal testing
misleading, uncover substitutes for animal testing that are not obvious, and to explain why the
process is unethical.

My product plan is to have a 5K for the Friends of Eden Animal Rescue. This is a challenge
because I have never planned a 5K before. It takes a lot of planning, communicating, and
advertising. I have chosen a person that works at the Animal Rescue as my expert in the field
because she understands the importance of the proper treatment of animals. Lori Lowrimore is
my expert and she works at the Friends of Eden Animal Rescue, caring for animals. I want to
work with Ms. Lowrimore because she is always very kind and communicative, and she can give
me insight on what it is like to care for a larger amount of animals consistently.

Plagiarism is when you use works or ideas from someone else without giving them credit. It is
important to avoid plagiarism because it will take away from you the experience of doing the
work yourself. It is important to be an ethical person because you do not want to hurt the
people, or animals, around you through your choices. It is also important to be ethical because
your actions help display your character and integrity.
