1. Rotate the Feyboard outand lay itface down on the
palm rest. Be careful not tm apply pressure to the
keyboard cable
2. Diconnect the beyboard cable from P10 on the
system board and remave the keyboard.

EXPANSION MEMORY REMOVAL
Insulator sheet
Latches
Lift up the insulator sheet covering the expansion
memory. Make sure the computer & in boet made,
Gently press out the latches and the expansion
memory will pop up.
Grasp the expansion memory and pull it out
HDD bracket
Gracp the HDD bracket and pull tfomardta
disconnectthe HDD, then grasp the back end of the
bracket and It tout.
2. Remave four flat-head screws fromthe HDD
bractet and lift outthe HDD.

M2.5x8 silver screws from the batteng slot one
M2.5x8 silver screw from the HDD slot. five M2.5x25
silver screws from the battom cover andt wo M2 SxS
silver screws from the back of the computer
Turn the computer right side up and open the display.

top cover.
2. Releaseeight latches securing thetop caver and
display assembly: three latches onthe let side,
three [atches onthe front and two Istches on the
right sida,
3, Liftoff thetop cover anddisplay assembly in the
ection of the aire.

disconect them: left spesier esble trom P.24, right
speater cable from P22, FL cable from Plt and
LCD cable from P.G (DSTN) of PU23 (TFT) modebs
NOTE: Keeptape covering Speaker/Inverter cables for
assembly.
INSULATOR REMOVAL
RTC & backup battery pad
1. Lift out theinsulstor aver the positioning pin.
(MOTE: Be sure to reinstall the insulator when assembling
the unit. H the insulator is nat inetalled the unit
will net power ON.

RTC and BACKUP BATTERY REMOVAL

1, Remove the tape securing apad overthe RTC and
backup batteries
2. Diecannect the RTC battery cable fram PJ7 on the
system board
3. Diecannect the backup battery from P.J602 on the
system board
4, Lift outthe RTC and bastup battery.
FDD REMOVAL
M2 S5xB brass screw
Dic connect the F 00 flexible cable from P.H4 onthe
system board,
Remave one M2.6x6 brass screwseouring the FOD,
and remove the FDD.
Remave four flathead screws securing the FED to the
FDD case and separate the FDD from is ease
Dis connect the F DD flexible cable from the FED.
LED BOARD and MEMBRANE SWITCH REMOVAL

1, Disconnect the LED board flexible cable from the
LED board.
2. Remowe one M2.Sx8 silver screw.
3. Liftup the leftside of the LED board to clear a latch
onthe rightside t remove the board.
4, Disconnect the membrane switch cable from PB on
the system board,
5, Release one latch at the font edge of the membrane
suitch and lift out-the membrane swith
NOTE: The FDD, flexible cable and FOD bracket are all
separate parts. Please DO NOT send the
defective FDD with the flexible cable and bracket
to TOSHIBA. Thefour scremes, flexible cable and
the FDD brackets hould be kept to accomble the
FDD you receive fram TOSHIBA for the
customer's unit

CD-ROM DRIVE REMOVAL

1, Disconnectthe CD-ROMFflexible cable from P16
on the system board.
2. Remavetwo M2x8 brass screws seouring the
CD-ROM drive.
4. Slide out the CD-ROM drive inthe direction of the
SYSTEM BOARD REMOVAL

1, Youwill fist remove the PC eardslot cover, Pull out
the PC card eject buttons and push them in fully;
do not bend them.
2. Insert tueezers between the top of the PC card slot
cover and the bottom cover of the computer te release
two Istches.
3. Pullthe top of the PC card slot cover foward to
remove it, Two intermallatches: prevent the card fram
being pulled straight out, co rotate ‘he top.
NOTE: The OD-ROM, flexible cable and bracket are all
separate parts, Please DO NOT send the
defective CD-ROM, flexible cable and bracket
te TOSHIBA, The two screns, flexible cable and
the CD-ROM brackets hould bekept to
assemble the CD-ROM you receive trom
TOSHIBA for the cus tamer's unit
DAUTICN: When you lock P.IG6 an the CD-ROM
eonnector and P16 on the system board,

same time. # you push the center ofthe
lever, the cable can become disconnected

1, Remove two M2.SxSbrass screws securing the FL
inverter board.
2. Carefully rotate the FL inverter board out: from right to
left then disconnect the FL inverter cable from CN1
and the HV cable from CN2.
8. Remave one M2.Sxd brass screwsecuring the
eontrast board. ON CDS MODELS ONLY!
4. Dicconnect the contrast bo=rd ozble fram PII on
the contract bo ard and lift out the board,
6. Remave four W2.Sx7 silver Serews securing the LCD
module to the LCD cover.
8. Carefully rotate the LCD module from right to left
ofthe LCD cover,
7. Disconnect the LCD cable fiom the LCD module
andremave the LCD from the computer
