WORKING TITLE: OUR OMAN - YOUR OMAN
Our Oman - Your Oman is a series of 5 minute promotional videos showcasing
Oman's diverse population through the harnessing of unique, in depth, personal
stories, aimed at the international market. Oman's tourism market has focused
greatly on the Sultanate's amazing landscape, yet so far seems to have lacked
insight into appealing to those explorers who are more interested in meeting new
people from exclusive backgrounds. Our Oman - Your Oman, hopes to change this,
appealing to this niche area of interest through providing a sample of what Oman's
people have to offer in terms of stories, experiences and customs; providing a rich
appreciation of Oman’s wide ranging lifestyles, being careful to ensure they are not
marketed as a ‘product’

The first story may begin at sea, on a traditional Dhow. Highlighting how fishing has Ti Ge Osis
long been integrated in Oman's ecosystem. The promo could focus on a traditional \“° * “##2erwe
‘Omani fisherman, seeking fish for himself and his village. However, as the fish is
transported back to land, we may transition back to the more modern Muscat, where
the fisherman is now taking his catch to the famous fish market at the Cornish. Thus
showcasing how fishing was and still is at the core of Omani culture. Of course, as
this short visual narrative is taking place, we may intercut or simply hear the
voiceover of the fisherman's stories of life at sea\and the importance that fishing has
had on Oman's economy over the decades. oncceraW ow DEAS

The second story may focus in one of the traditional villages that is embedded into a
wadi edge/mountain top. Instead of fish, the visual story could focus on the rearing of
goats and their importance to village life. Simultaneously, the personal story taking
place may focus on an Omani women and her experiences of life growing up in a
wadi/mountain and working in the rose gardens to create rose water. Traditional life
could similarly transition to the modern world, with a shot of the storyteller pulling out
an iPhone to take @ photo. ay Hs GE Mece CID Te WHAT THY ACE Deve?

The third story could focus on a bedouin camp in the desert. Perhaps the animal of
focus for this visual story could be the camel and how fundamental they are for the
bedouins survival. The personal story that takes place may discuss the importance
of desert crossings in Oman's history and the unifying of the bedouins who live there
- another visual focus could be on the stars at night and how they are also a tool
used by the bedouins for navigation. Again, the link to this with the modern world
could perhaps be a moving star which turns out to be a plane or the glimmer of a
satellite. — (vks > covrlmdy THEME OF Communicdrien

Therefore, all of the personal stories that are showcased, not only tell a unique
narrative of the individual, but also focus visually on a key animal vital for the way of
life that is explored, with all three finishing with a connection from these traditional
ways of life, to the moder world, through the use of technology.
