Bangalore that serve as prime locations for some of

1. Janata Hotel, Malleswaram

Located in the hub of South Indian culture, this hotel


is a legend that still lures in loyalists from all over the
city. The masala dosas here are cooked to perfection
and you will find yourself asking for more. Make sure
you try the Vada masala dosa, Mangalore Bajji and
vada and the coffee when you get here. not too great
on ambience, but the food is definitely going to
distract you from that!

2. MTR-Mavali Tiffin Rooms, Lalbagh Gate

The original MTR in Bangalore, the place where it all


started for so many loyal South Indian food lovers!
This is the place you need to go to on a lazy Sunday to
indulge in a good breakfast with your family or your
friends. While here, try out the famous Masala Dosas
and Rava idlis, and couple it with a steaming hot cup
of coffee.

3. Gundappa Hotel, Nagarthpet

Yet another Old and Gold favourite! This outlet is a


sweet shop located in Nagarthpet, now known as
Ram Vilas Sweets, where you can still buy sweets that
will be weighed out in a bag. Established in 1932, this
has been a favourite for Bangaloreans for sweets and
snacks. Try out their gulab jamuns, badushahs and do
not miss out on their khara boondhi with a hot
badam milk on the side.
4. Iyer Mess, Malleswaram

A classic South Indian outlet, the name is enough for


you to anticipate the best kind of dosas and vadas.

to go here. This place usually comes alive by around
07:00 PM, and is very crowded during the weekends.

Brahmin’s can be found here at Basvanagudi and
will surely leave your taste buds in a tizzy once you
get your hands on their amazing south Indian food!
Kara Bath, coffee, tea, vadas and idlis are the
highlight here. They are always crowded and their
menu is small, but rest assured, the food is
excellent!
10.VB Bakery, Sajjan Rao Circle
A place where you need to go to with your
Grandparents, because they probably took you
there when you were just a toddler! A bakery known
for its delicious Indian sweets, congress bun,
coconut barfi, plum cakes and honey cakes among
many others, VB Bakery is one of the oldest bakeries
in Bangalore and to this date, serves delicious khara
biscuits, masala buns and dumroot.
11.New Modern Hotel, Minerva Circle
Located between SajjanRao Circle and Minerva
Circle in VV Puram, New Modern Hotel is a legend
amongst folks who have stayed in Bangalore since
many years back! Their ambience is simple and their
Masala Dosas are a whole league apart! Once again,
a south Indian restaurant that takes you back to
childhood days!
12.Koshy’s, St. Marks road
This weekend, why not visit a restaurant that Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru dined in? Koshy’s is a legendary
restaurant whose location you just cannot miss! A
relic of Old Bangalore, tyou need to visit this
restaurant just to indulge in their signature fish curry
and rice. The place is also known for serving good
breakfast.
13. Airlines Hotel, Lavelle Road
Once again, a feasible restaurant that reminds you
of school days! Airlines hotel is a must visit if you
love a blend of both North Indian and South Indian
cuisine. Go for an early morning walk in Cubbon
Park and head to this outlet for some poori bajji,
channa batoora and Khara Bath to make your day
awesome! A perfect place to catch up with friends
for a mini college reunion!
14.Central Tiffin Room, Malleswaram
Masala Dosas with butter or without? Having
options like these are heaven! Also known as Sri
Sagar, CTR has been declared as the place you need
to go to if you want to taste the city’s best Dosas. Be
prepared for a massive crowd of people trying to get
their order, but it is worth it. Try their Benne Masala
dosa, bondas and pooris when you get here. Heads
up: take an auto or a cab to the place as the parking
is challenging.
15. Veena Stores, Malleswaram
The oldest food joint in Malleswaram, head here if
you enjoy authentic pongal and Puliyogare. The
vadas and dosas here are always hot and the
ambince is loud and energetic! Get here early on a
weekend and relish the food.

16. Vidyarthi Bhavan, Basvanagudi


This outlet was opened initially as a studens eatery
(hence, the name) and has been in operation ever
since 1943, dazzling people with their hot and
delicious dosas, vadas and idlis. the rava vade, khara
bath which will leave you spellbound. Make sure to
try their puri saagu and uddina vade too, but most
importantly, try the Dosa!

17. Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Coffee Bar,


Banashankari
Pocket friendly and you will get unlimited chutney
here! An old and gold outlet in Banshankari, this
place is crowded all the time and has excellent
breakfast options you can try out!
18. Sri Jayalakshmi Bakery, Lalbagh Road
Located next to the Pharmacy College at Lalbagh
Road, this bakery is famous for its hot and soft
sweets and cakes and its incessant crowd.
Fortunately, there is good paring space here, and
you must visit this old timer in Bangalore if you
