Dear Advisory Board:

My general area of intent is funding for school arts. I chose this area because I am going into
college as a music education major, and my band obviously will need funds. This will be a
learning stretch for me, as I do not know much about how the arts receive the funding from
schools.

Thesis: School arts programs should receive more funding because many students participate
in them, they provide academic benefit, and it is an essential part of the school’s curriculum.
The focus of my paper is to shine light on the lack of funding for cultural and performing arts,
despite the importance.

For my product, I plan to have a donation box at the Pride of Morehead Band concert on May
10th, 2018. Beside the donation box, I will have a sign explaining the lack of funding for school
arts, as well as a list of items that can be donated to the school art courses. The challenge
would be getting a sufficient amount of funds, rather than just a couple of dollars. My expert in
the field is the band director of Morehead High School, Nathaniel Hines.

Plagiarism is the unethical act of using someone else’s work rather than your own. Avoiding this
unethical act is very important. Being caught plagiarizing can result in expulsion from college, or
authorities can be notified and take action. I understand that serious actions will be taken in
results to plagiarism.
