First Grade Math Zip Kit/Home Learning Kit – Place Value

Hello Families!!!
Our class is starting a lesson unit on place value. This kit contains activities that
will help all students master place value. We are going to start with activities that have
tens and ones, and grow from there.

This kit contains (2) worksheets to be completed for homework. It also contains multiple
manipulatives, strategies, or helpers to assist the student in completion.

1. There are felt cards that show tens and ones.

2. There are felt number cards.
3. There are felt addition, subtraction and equal signs.

Please encourage the student to use any or all of the helpers to complete their
homework. The kit will include picture examples of how the helpers can be used. If you
feel your student has use the kit in an Eagle Extraordinary way, then please post a
picture on our classroom website.

Finally the class loves the following video on place value. Scan with QR scanner on

(b) Knowledge and skills.

2) Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to

represent and compare whole numbers, the relative position and magnitude of whole
numbers, and relationships within the numeration system related to place value. The
student is expected to:

(A) Recognize instantly the quantity of structured arrangements;

(B) use concrete and pictorial models to compose and decompose numbers up to
120 in more than one way as so many hundreds, so many tens, and so many ones;

(C) Use objects, pictures, and expanded and standard forms to represent numbers
up to 120;
