To Whom It May Concern,

As a graduating honors Elementary Education major at Humboldt State University, I have a very
strong interest in pursuing my career in teaching. With experience in the elementary and
preschool classroom, and working as a gymnastics coach, I have a diverse background with
much to offer.

My first teaching experience was during highschool, when I was a gymnastics coach for children
ages 3-10. This experience inspired me to continue along the path to becoming a teacher. After
highschool, I attended Santa Rosa Junior College where I obtained my Associates degree in
Child Development. While getting my degree, I worked as a nanny for a family with three
children, ages 1, 3, and 8. After working as a nanny, I began substituting and working a summer
session at College Oak Montessori preschool, where I gained experience with toddler age
children and the Montessori method.

After getting an Associates degree, I transfered to Humboldt State University where I earned a
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. During my two years there I was able to create
lesson plans, work as a math and literacy tutor, observe and aid in elementary classrooms and
gain the knowledge needed for becoming an elementary teacher. While earning my degree, I was
hired by Arcata Parks and Recreation as a gymnastics coach for students ages 5-13 where I
taught beginning through advanced skills to students.

I would love to continue my career as an educator with ABC Elementary School. If you have any
additional questions or if there’s any additional information I can provide, please don’t hesitate
to let me know. I look forward to hearing more about this teaching opportunity.

Sincerely,

Ann Spaulding
