Day 11:

This is the penultimate day of the unit, and therefore will be spent wrapping

things up and preparing for the gallery walk tomorrow. This is labeled as “Partner Day”

as the whole day will be spent working in pairs and discussing various components of the

final project.

Although their memoirs have been turned in by this point, students will be

required to share an excerpt of their memoir with the class during the gallery walk.

Students will share their memoirs with their partner and work together to decide an

appropriate and engaging excerpt.

Students will also discuss with their partners which example of overcoming

adversity they are relating their experience to. If students have not come up with an

example by this point (although ideally everyone would by now), partners can work

together to brainstorm what relates the best and why. The “relating” section of their final

project is due tomorrow, along with the reflection and memoir excerpt for the gallery

walk.
