To Whom It May Concern,

As a community organizer at the Merced based non-profit, YVote, I have had the
pleasure of working with many talented young people. Jennifer Carlos is an extraordinary young
woman, whose participation stood out. YVote, is a statewide network of 17 youth and
community organizations empowering young people of color in California. We believe that
young people have the power to bring justice to our communities. Jennifer participated in our
voter registration efforts, phone banks, youth meetings, and continues to be a integral member as
we expand to local high schools.

Jennifer has grown in leadership by demonstrating the ability to maintain an open mind
and challenging herself to try on various leadership positions. She is able to discuss new issues in
a diverse group and demonstrates a natural ability to facilitate, encourage, and organize others.
Through her participation she has learned how to build relationships with other young people,
think critically about institutions serving the entire community, and engage in social justice
efforts to improve the well being of immigrants, communities of color, and young people in
Merced. She has been an active participant in cultural circles and advocacy efforts at the local
level.

Jennifer Carlos is someone who is eager to share her skills but is is just as eager to learn.
She is hard working, responsible, and committed to be involved in her community and pursue
her educational goals. I am confident these characteristics will serve her well in her future
professional life. It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Jennifer
Carlos. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Crisantema Gallardo
Senior Community Organizer
