LT6 Performance AoL East Coast: Tsunami Threats Name: LT 6: I can use radical functions and expressions. Long-Term LT: I can model with mathematics. While low, the possibility of a tsunami striking on the East Coast does exist. Tsunamis may be formed by a number of different sources. You will be working in groups to analyze the impact. and likelihood of various threat sources. You will ereate a report summarizing your findings and offering relevant solutions for Rhode Island coastal communities. Part A: Threat Assessment and Calculation The goal for this component of the project is to use mathematical models to evaluate one type of tsunami threat: Each member of your group will examine one of the following threats of your choice: Landslide Tsunami cua (any afi Submarine Landslide Tsunami isiatee {fol Offa Meteo-Tsunami lp of Plate Tectonic Tele-Tsunami pale af peed Asteroid/Comet Impact Tsunami For your chosen threat, you will need to consider how and where that type of tsunami will form, and its travel time from its origin to the Rhode Island coast. You may also want to consider the probability of such a tsunami forming, and the destructive impact of that tsunami type. Your assessment should be guided by the information provided in East Coast Tsunami Threats by the National Weather Service. ‘You must submit a neatly written sheet of paper detailing your calculations. You should also include a clean copy of a map of the Atlantic Ocean, with relevant areas and points of interest shown. Part B: Threat Analysis ‘The goal for this component of the project is to summarize the details of your findings. You should create informed solutions to issues around tsunami impact and planning.
