Document Development Exposition: White Paper

ENGL 2116 | Spring 2018

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
Since this is the very first paper I will write in this class, in the planning stage, I went through
several information in different site including some animal preservation organizations
including the IUCN, The International Union for Conservation of Nature, and WWF, World
Wildlife Fund. These sites provided some useful information for this report. From all the
information gathered from these websites, I decided to present a problem in terms of the
relationship between human and nature by using bears as an example of the victims that was
affected by the rapid development made in the past decades in the world.

First Draft
In the first draft, I used the information from the IUCN websites, it provided detailed
information of the bear in terms of their scientific information, situation and the threats they
are currently facing. Also, the WWF websites provided the detailed statistics of Panda in
China. With all this information, I constructed a report with 5 categories including the
introduction of bear and the problem, the information and situation of 4 bear species
including Polar Bear, Panda Bear, Andean Bear and Sloth Bear and the conclusion to present
a solution for the problem. In this point, no cosmetic element was added.

Second Draft
In the second draft, it is the point that my paper was peer reviewed by my classmate and I
discovered several flaws in my paper such as the paper has no visual aid, the structure is not
following the guideline PowerPoint completely and a few grammar mistakes was found.
Therefore, after I got the feedback from my peer, I checked the PowerPoint again since I did
not see the PowerPoint thoroughly during the planning stage. Afterward, I added a title page,
a table of content, put all the headings in color, changed the font type based on san-serif and
serif for headings and body and added some pictures of specific bears in their categories.

Final Draft
In the Final Draft, it is the point that the paper was submitted, and I got the feedback and a
grade. I was shocked because I thought that was my best work. In fact, the paper was still of
mistakes in the title page, the table of content page and a plenty of grammar mistake was
found. Since there are a lot of mistakes found, after I read all the comment given, I corrected
all the places that was highlighted. Besides, I decided to add more lines in the introduction
part to make the problem to be more clear and also added several sentence in the conclusion
to be more specific on the problem solutions.
