My story is also about the different voices in the FM community. It is challenging to hear
all voices. Because of that the voice of the End User is in danger to get blurred. I have
learned that sharing your experiences also helps in hearing all those voices. Let´s share
our stories and learn from them. Sharing is learning!

Over 35 years of versatile working experience in service industry and public organizations
ranging from hotel- and restaurant management to passenger-shipping and even to
municipalities and NGO´s offers me a good platform to broad and innovative
perspectives to the university-business life interface.

I have coached hundreds of Finnish and international bachelor- and master´s level
students to enter managerial and expert positions in business and public enterprises.
Since 2010 I have been working as Senior Lecturer specialized in Facility Management at
Laurea University of Applied Sciences in Espoo, Finland. At the moment I hold the
position of Development Manager at Laurea being in charge of Business Management
Degree Programs and a team of 25 lecturers.

KEYNOTE
I am Member of the Board in European Facility Management Network (EuroFM) and
Chairman of the Education Network Group in EuroFM. I have acted as Member of the
Board of Finnish Facility Management Association (FIFMA) since 2012. These networks
are “opportunity platforms” for me to act as an advisor and matchmaker for universities to
establish multi-disciplinary development and research projects as well as to bring

Matthias, trained as a mechanical engineer in Germany
and the US, is a specialist in Climate Engineering within
the built environment. Within his profesional carree at
Transsolar he has developed climate and energy
concepts on various scales worldwide, from low-tech
schools to high-tech office buildings and urban districts
with the goal to design climate responsive, high confort
buildings with a low ecological impact. In 2012 he
accepted the chair of Building Technology at the
Architecture School of the State Academy of Arts and
Design, Stuttgar, where he leads the research group

Chairman EuroFM

Ron was Dean of the School of Facility Management of the Hanze University for Applied Sciences Groningen, the Netherlands (1200 students, 90 employees)
for eight years and is now Program manager Real Estate and Campus development. Ron studied physical therapy, business administration, economics and
laws and gained a bachelor degree in PT, BA and master degrees in Economics and Laws. Since 2007 he is active in the FM world, first in the educational and
research aspects of \FM and nowadays practicing FM in developing the campus of the Hanze University (2800 staff members and 27.000 students), is member
of IFMA, EuroFM, FMN, past chair of LOOFD and since January 2012 chairman of EuroFM, the European Facility Management Network Organization.
