No Plastic bag for marketers in La Trinidad

Mayor Salda takes action to the Ordinance 11-2015 which intention is to regulate the

use of plastic bags, Styrofoam and other synthetic packaging materials around the municipality

and penalty will be given to the violators of the law.

As a marketer plastic bags must not be our problem because we can use alternatives

where to put our markets like paper bag, cloth bags, buri or bayong and others that is not

mention. Think of its opposite plastic is the one that can cause a problem to us and to our

environment especially this season of rainy days. Plastics, cellophanes are not biodegradable

and they causes canals and drainage to clog. For both vendors and market goers complaints

must be avoided instead an appreciation for this would be for our benefit actually this is not new

to us we have just started a little beat late because this has been applicable in most of the cities

like Pampanga I was been there last year in around the supermarkets and I can see a note like

“no plastic bag allowed” they use paper bags or cartoons for the groceries if not can buy eco

bag for the markets. And they are really strict to it but the effect is observed to their environment

and it also serve as a discipline for people for avoiding to use plastic bag. I am then in favor of

this law since I know it has a benefit not only for me but to the environment where I live in.

As said by mayor this would be effective starting this week. Hope that this would be

applicable not only here in La Trinidad but in the whole city of Baguio and should not only be

applicable in the Public Market but also in the supermarkets, and establishments and groceries

where people usually go for shopping and marketing, since this ordinance intention is to lessen

plastic pollution.
