Notes:
 Your child is receiving sight words each week that need to be practiced for at least 2 minutes every day so
that children can be successful in the classroom. Cut them out and use as flash cards. Every Monday
children will be tested on these 10 sight words. When they pass a list (22 total), they move on to a new list.
CONGRATULATIONS to the students who have completed all 22 lists!
 Math Newsletter – Module 6, Topic A-Lessons 1-2, Topic B-Lessons 3-9.
 Nonsense Words – This is optional homework, but so important in helping with fluency and automaticity. To
make it challenging and more fun, play Beat The Time, by setting the timer and recording each day’s score,
always trying to be quicker with each successive read.
 Guided Reading – Once again, I need to begin the end-of-year district assessments. These are 1:1 and take
approximately 45min-1 hour per child. That being said, I must stop formal guided reading instruction. Some
students will continue to go home with new books so that they can continue to progress in their reading
proficiency. Would you please make sure they continue to read 3-4 times each night? Those in book clubs
reading chapter books are able to work independently.
 Rainforest Project – Due Tuesday, May 29th.
 Looking Ahead – Friday, May 18th is a minimum day, Rumpus in the Rainforest performance- May 23rd @
9:15 and 2:00, Open House-Thursday, May 24th.
