Triad Studies
1. Play any individual position of any triad type.
2. Play all three positions of any triad type.
3. Play one position of any triad type through the circle of 5ths.
4. Play through the circle of 5ths using all triad positions to voice lead nicely
when changing keys.

Quadratonic Studies
5. Any of the challenges (1-4) but including a tension note into the position(s).
6. Improvise within any particular position showcasing a specific tension note to
create melodic tension and momentum.
7. Improvise with multiple tension notes simultaneously against a specific triad.

Moving Harmony Studies


8. Learn the blues etudes and play them.
9. Pick any two chords from the blues progression and improvise back and forth
using quadratonic scales to create melodies while respecting the harmonic
movement.
10. Improvise over the blues using triads or quadratonic ideas to play melodically.
11. Compose a new blues tune using the quadratonics to develop your melody.
You can also improvise over it as well… starting and ending with the melody.

Tonality Studies
12. Play through the three fully extended chord inversions with passing tones.
13. Take any (or all) chord voicing and move it through the circle of 5ths.
14. Loop yourself playing any (or all) chord voicings and then improvise over it
with quadratonic (or pentatonic) scale ideas… put it into a V7 IMaj cadence to
make it harder.
15. Improvise over a standard using the 13b9 tonality and quadratonic/pentatonic
to play over all of the dominant7 chords that precede a major tonic resolution.
